Description:
three horizontal bands of red (top), white (in the middle), and red
(bottom) with a green cedar tree centred in the white band touching
both red horizontal bands. The red bands are equal in size with each
forming a quarter of the width of the flag; the white part is double
width or double the size of each red band (= equal to both red bands
together). The cedar tree is all green.
History:
As the national emblem the Cedar of
Lebanon
is of great historical and cultural value (mentioned in 70 different
passages in the Bible and the prophet Ezekiel described it as the
“tree of God”).
